Operational banditry in the Niger republic.

Another sad commentary happens on the pages of African democracy whilst the world surges forward, looking towards beyond the moon far into the beyond, and might be after planet Mars, soonest. Africa taken backward by clueless idealess crass head mis-adventurists such as it just happened in the West African state of the Republic of Niger.

Made worst by the submission of yet another brigand abettor in another tiny country of the continent, where the president – in a democratic exercise – made the case for a military coup d’état in Niger. The contrasting hypocrisy was disheartening and down casting, bemoaning the hope of continental Africa.

IS THE BLACK RACE CURSED OR ARE WE WITNESSING YET ANOTHER SUBTLE AFFIRMATION OF THE SAYING?

There had been series of several goat kicks in the planet in recent times. Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Sudan, the most prior to the current in Niger.

The consolation however was – unlike in the previous occurrences – the prompt quick attention given to the misadventure by a band of gun happy, gun totting power grabbers divesting the people of Niger from a freely chosen government through democracy, the global norm for choice of governance. Other heads of states in the West African subregion gathered in Abuja the capital and seat of government of Nigeria, presided over by the newly installed democratic government of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. To deliberate on the unfortunate unhealthy and ill-advised interjection in the political life of the uranium rich country.

The heads of governments of Economic Community of West Africa Sates CEDEAO-ECOWAS – the aegis under which they gathered – issued stern warnings with certain immediate assertions. The leading or preceding abbreviation in the compound word was the French version of the pseudonym. While the later represents the English, since both the French and their English counterpart compartmented and shared the West African countries for colonization, as the prizes of the conquerors.

They have since resolved to assert the legitimacy with the authority of the CEDEAO-ECOWAS by enforcing the underlets.

1. Closure of Land and air borders between ECOWAS and Niger.

2. Institution of ECOWAS no flight zone to all commercial flights to and from Niger.

3. Suspension of all commercial and financial transactions between ECOWAS member states and Niger.

4. Freeze all service transactions including energy transactions.

5. Freeze assets of Niger Republic in all ECOWAS Central banks.

6. Freeze all Niger State and the state enterprises and parastatals in commercial banks.

7. Suspension of Niger from all financial assistance and transactions with all financial institutions.

8. Imposed travel bans on the military officials and their families involved in the coup attempt including anyone who accepts any position in the putsch and or accept to participate in whatever form.

The rogues in military uniform who disrupted and aborted democracy in Niger have been given 7 days to recant recede and return democratic governance to the people and reinstall the overthrown democratic government back to the seat of power or face military counters for the reckless misadventure.

The BANDITS in military uniform who took charge in the Niger were also charged with the safety protection and the wellbeing of the dethroned President Mohamed Bazoum and members of his family.

It is worthy of note to establish the fact of occasional support for military putsches in African states due to the excesses of civilian heads of state who places undue yokes on the populace after coming into power, reneging on their electoral promise agendas and sweet manifestos. But the people soon discover and to their charging that they were equally taken for granted and to the cleaners by the fraud rogues they lured and urged to wrestle and take power from democratically elected government.

THE PEOPLE NEVER REALLY KNEW HOW THEY SHORTCHANGED THEMSELVES BY ENCOURAGING SOLDIERS TO INTERVENE IN THEIR SOCIO-POLITICAL LIFE AND SUBMMITING TO MASTER DECEPTORS IN MILITARY UNIFORMS.

In Nigeria in 1983, the civilian government led by the inept Alhaji Shehu Shagari enabled and aided by the corrupt military government of one undeserving General Olusegun Obasanjo. Who actually said to the consternation of Nigerians that THE BEST CANDIDATE WILL NOT WIN the stage-managed presidential elections of 1979 that ushered in their stooge and puppet against a proven and competent Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, the sage as he was known – was overthrown in a military coup by the same military junta that imposed him on the country – with the people taking to the streets to celebrate the military intervention. Same has been reported in the current happening in the Niger. The people welcomed and ushered in the putsch with elation and jubilations.

An opium for seeming populist military coups happens upon bad leadership lacking deliveries of democratic dividends to the people. Providing the impetus therefore for anything that could possibly deliver them from the most confronting hardship under any current misrule for immediate succor.

When Thomas Sankara upstaged the government of Upper-Volta in the 80’s and became popular with both the people of his country and beyond their borders – the type never before it and till date. There had never been any coup d’état which enjoyed the kind of goodwill by the entirety of Africa as a whole. Thomas Sankara’s coup transcended the entire length and breadth of Africa. It threatened the status Quo and every military government in the continent at the time.

The suspicious that still subsists was that the governments of the day in the continent conspired to get rid of the looming emerging formidable force that poses an affront to the sit tight rulers in both military and civilian cloaks.

The people of Niger republic and the citizens applauded and opened their arms to the uniform thieves they will soon realize are not near messiah. They wanted a saviour who appears a mirage and illusional. they will soon find out that there is no alternative to democracy that allows you choose your leader in a voting exercise through the ballot box. Definitely, not the military where there is no representation.

What buoyed the audacity of the recent aberration in the republic of Niger may have hinged on the usual and customary late, lackadaisical and or inactive response of the West African economic cum political body called the ECOWAS. Nothing happened to all the previous coups in the subregion which may have encouraged and led credence to the brigandage in Niger this past week.

People have condemned and castigated the CEDEAO-ECOWAS for being docile and feckless to military coups and occurrences in the subregion over time, which has caused the people to doubt the effectiveness of the iterated resolves. except the new and added dimension of a military counteroffensive to uproot and dislodge the power-hungry usurpers in the state house of the people’s Republic of Niger.

You may not have to look far and wonder for too long about the backwardness of planet Africa. The reasons for the lack of innovations ingenuity and inventions by the black man with all the professors and professional experts that adorn and astride the surface of the planet, labelled Africa.

Are you still at loss with why the black man is regarded as cursed and or consigned to misfortunes miseries and abject poverty in the face of plenty and blessings of all kinds and types by which others who are not as blessed have prospered progressed and advanced the course of humanity?

Military interruption of democratic constitutional governance in the twentieth century is abysmal. Including, rustic and disgusting.
